Welcome to the Shotokan Karate Club of Newberry home page. We are located in North Central Florida near the cities of Gainesville, Newberry, Alachua, High Springs, Archer and Trenton.

A friends and family oriented meeting place to learn and study all the aspects of traditional Karate the way it was meant to be, without the for profit marketing and plushy speedy ranking.  We strive in maintining the original essence of this art that took hundreds of years to develope.

Chief instructor is Sensei Pedro Alfonso (Forth Degree Black Belt). The banner on top of the page illustrates the direct lineage of our club to Master Gichin Funakoshi the founder of Shotokan Karate who is referred to as the father of modern Karate.  It also illustrates our close relationship with Shihan Sugimoto who is a certified Shotokan Karate Master.

Student of Shihan Sugimoto and Chief Instructor of the Shotokan Karate Club of Newberry.
